It is important to take the normal care and maintenance to keep your flooring looking good and  performing as intended. By following these simple cleaning and maintenance guidelines your new  floor will provide many years of great service.

  • Sweep regularly to remove surface grit and dust. Use a damp cloth or mop to clean up any dirt and footprints but avoid using excessive moisture. All spills should be cleaned up immediately.
CAUTION: Planks are slippery when wet.
  • Do not use a wet spray micro fibre mop. Never use wax, polish, abrasive cleaners or scouring agents as they may dull or distort the finish.
  • High heels can damage floors. Use protective pads under furniture. Use doormats at entrance ways to protect the floor from discolouring. Do not allow pets with unclipped nails to scratch or damage the floor.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Use drapes of blinds to minimize direct sunlight during peak sunlight hours.
  • It is a good idea to save a few planks in case of accidental damage. Planks can be replaced or repaired by a flooring professional.
  • To protect your floors, it is vitally important to affix felt strips or suitable protection under any furniture-bases, chair legs and commonly movable objects. At entry points and for high traffic areas the use of floormats to remove entry grit and dirt is recommended and will help preserve the floor surface coating.
  • Dust and or clean with a soft bristled vacuum head. Ensure vacuum head is non-abrasive  with no metal contact points.
  • If necessary, clean with a well rung out mop with warm water and a PH neutral floor cleaner.  We strongly recommend a BONA or Nex Generation Floors Engineered Flooring care  solution; these are available from reputable flooring suppliers and our website. Consult  instruction before use. Do not use supermarket floor or general cleaning solutions as they are likely to be concentrated and if used incorrectly will damage the surface coating.
  • Do not use waxes or common household supermarket cleaners or detergents on the floor.  These types of cleaning solutions are very abrasive. Long term use will dull the finish and  soften the surface coating reducing it durability and sheen level.
  • Chairs with roller wheels must be placed on protective mats to protect the surface coating.
  • Do not let sand, dirt or grit build up on the floor surface
  • Do not use masking or other types of adhesive tapes on the surface coating, removal at a later stage may result in coating damage.
  • Do not roll or slide heavy furniture or appliance across flooring without surface protection or lift trolley.
  • Place drip pans or protective matting under pot plants and animal feeding or bedding areas  to avoid moisture ingress.
  • Importantly, make sure there is a minimum humidity of 35-50% in the room. Constant site  variations above or below these limits may require the use of humidifier. Good airflow and  ventilation is required to avoid heat and cooling extremes. Long-term exposure may result in  changes to the flooring surface. To resolve site specific circumstances please consult with your flooring installer.

Working out the quantity of flooring that you need is really dependant on layout of your room. Rectangular rooms can be calculated easily by multiplying the length by width. If your room is irregularly shaped, you need to divide your room into separate smaller areas, adding these areas together to calculate the total square meters. Add an additional 10% to your square meter total for wastage. Once you have your measurements use our area calculator to calculate the total coverage your require.
